Step 1. Mark the position
I purchased my pole from here: http://xpoleus.com/store/welcome-to-xpole-us-online-permanent-mounts-c-2_26.html
X-mount is from the same website.
Step 2- Measure ceiling slope angle
Step 3 Make the base
The purpose of use a wood board that goes underneath the X-mount is for safe reasons. I was advised by the X-pole sales person to do it this way to prevent the pole from falling down. Generally speaking, US residential construction have the beams or stud inside the walls about 16” apart. And they are very narrow. The screw positions on the X-Pole Mount are too separated apart. Therefore we need a board to hold on tie to the ceiling. Then attach the X-pole mount onto the board to stabilize the pole from collapse. If your studio has wide beams for the X-pole mount you can skip this step.
The picture shown the board I made for my X-pole permanent mount.
I was lucky enough to found a piece of plywood from Homedepot that was about to trashed. And I asked the store to let me keep it. They gave me for free. Then I asked a wood worker in Homedepot to help me trim the board down to 6”x8″. Then I ran to the rental department for the drill gun and ladder. The person in the department helped me drilled the holes on the board. This is a critical step for me moving forward. He is super nice. So here, I have
• 3 butterfly holes done by 3/4″ drill beat. For the purpose of letting screws sit in flat when go into the ceiling. So they won’t stick out and make the X-mount unable to lay onto the board flat.
• 3 little holes done by 3/52 drill. For the purpose of drilling the screws into the ceiling
• 4 little holes done by 3/5 drill. For the purpose of mounting the X-mount onto the board and go all the way into the ceiling.
I came home after getting all the equipments from home depot. First thing first, I positioned the plywood board onto the ceiling with tape where my marker is. Then slowly, I put the screw in one after another.
Step 5 Install the pole
Finally the last step comes in. It is so easy and simple because we did all the other things right.
Things I got to say about Pole Dance…
